Wickes has become the first DIY retailer in the UK to offer online shoppers the ability to select a one-hour window for their DIY deliveries

The Travis Perkins-owned retailer has partnered with CitySprint-owned delivery technology firm On the dot to fulfil the “‘ultra-convenient” delivery service.

Following a successful trial, Wickes Hourly is being introduced nationwide, with one-hour time-slots available seven days a week and on same-day deliveries.

The service, aimed at speeding up DIY shopping, will sit alongside the retailer’s pre-existing one-hour click-and-collect service, and will cost shoppers a minimum of £9.95.

Wickes supply chain director Duncan Kendal said: “We pride ourselves on making our customers’ lives that little bit easier and we’re excited to say we’re the first to market with this new delivery option in our sector.

“Whether you need paint or power tools, by partnering with On the dot we have been able to offer a range of home improvement products exactly where and when people need them.’’

On the dot chief executive Patrick Gallagher said: “We know that consumers now expect to shop on their terms and it is retailers, like Wickes, who have put convenient delivery at the top of their agenda, that will succeed in retaining and attracting new customers.’’

Around 7,000 Wickes products are currently available for home delivery.
