A former National Express boss has been appointed as the new chief executive of Topps Tiles.
Alex Jensen, who succeeds Rob Parker, will join Topps Tiles as chief executive designate in September. Parker, who said in January that he intended to retire, will remain in post until towards the end of the year to ensure an orderly transfer.
Jensen also brings experience from BP’s retail and fleet services, where she was divisional chief executive of both, and global chief marketing officer. In the latter role, she was responsible for areas such as brand, digital and customer loyalty programmes.
Topps Tiles chair Paul Forman said: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Alex as the new chief executive. Alex brings extensive retail, multi-site and digital experience as well as a proven record of value creation.
“After almost two decades with the business, we will be sad to see Rob leave us and are incredibly grateful for the contribution he has made over that time as both chief financial officer and chief executive. We wish him the very best for the future.”
Jensen said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Topps at such an exciting stage in its journey. With its trusted brands, digital platforms, expert teams and loyal customer base, the business is well-positioned for growth. I’m committed to unlocking the full growth potential of the group.”
Topps also disclosed that chief financial officer Stephen Hopson is leaving to join pub group Marston’s. Mike Killick has been appointed to succeed him on an interim basis. Killicks has previously worked at companies including retailers Peacocks, Thorntons and Jones Bootmaker.
