In his first big move since taking the helm, BrightHouse boss Hamish Paton has appointed Hugh Harvey and Graeme Campbell to the rent-to-buy retailer’s board.

Harvey, who joined BrightHouse a year ago and previously held senior roles at Kingfisher, has been promoted to trading director.

The former managing director of Comet will be responsible for commercial operations, marketing and buying.

Campbell, who has been with BrightHouse since 2011, has been made strategy and digital director. He will also be in charge of IT and change management.

Campbell has held a number of roles at the firm, including director of finance, chief information officer and, most recently, director of marketing. He previously worked at Virgin Media and Thresher group.

Paton, who replaced Leo McKee as BrightHouse chief executive earlier this month, said: “I am confident they [Harvey and Campbell] will play an important role in BrightHouse’s future, as we focus on delivering a high-quality experience for our customers.”

In accounts filed on Companies House last week, BrightHouse chairman Henry Staunton said conducting more rigorous affordability checks on potential customers is hurting its business model and impacting profits.
