Members of Waitrose’s loyalty programme will be entitled to savings when they shop through Deliveroo.
The grocer unveiled the tie-up, for members of the MyWaitrose programme, ahead of the busy Christmas food shopping period. Waitrose customers who link their loyalty account to their Deliveroo account will benefit from ”hundreds of offers each year”.
Use of on-demand delivery typically rises during the holiday season. Waitrose said that last Christmas, rapid delivery orders more than doubled year on year, with customers snapping up items such as gingerbread, mince pies and gluten-free pigs in blankets.
Waitrose online director Laura Burbedge said: “We’re getting ready for a busy on-demand shopping Christmas. We’ve employed more Partners in our shops to quickly shop for customers ordering on demand, ensuring we offer them the outstanding service they expect from Waitrose.
“It’s great to be able to start rewarding our MyWaitrose customers shopping on Deliveroo with offers in time for Christmas entertaining.”
Waitrose started selling its products online in 2020 and now offers thousands of products – from fruit and vegetables, to fish and wrapping paper – fulfilled from 260 stores.
Deliveroo vice-president of new verticals Suzy McClintock said: “We’re proud to be strengthening our long-standing partnership with Waitrose just in time for one of the busiest times of the year. We know that customers rely on Deliveroo for rapid grocery delivery, especially when the festive season is in full swing.”
