The Co-operative has created a video expressing support for gay marriage ahead of a vote in parliament tonight.

The video shows members of the mutual’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender group Respect supporting the right to gay marriage.

The retailer first backed same-sex couples last year when it submitted a response to the Government’s consultation ahead of the bill. MPs will vote on the The Marriage (Same-Sex Couples) Bill in the House of Commons tonight.

The Co-op said it “believes that people should be treated as individuals, rather than being treated differently because of a particular personal characteristic, background, life experience or belief”.
