Sainsbury’s Nectar360 has launched a new partnership with Alton Towers operator Merlin Entertainments to “help families across the UK enjoy more quality time for less”, Retail Week can reveal.

Nectar customers will now be able to spend their loyalty points to secure entry at over 20 attractions across the UK, including Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, Legoland and Chessington World of Adventures.

Nectar members will also be able to double the value of their points as part of the partnership – with £5 worth of points being exchanged for £10 a ticket to a Merlin attraction.

Nectar360 said the partnership offers customers “a new way to redeem their points, turning their everyday grocery shopping into opportunities for families to visit destinations, experiences and attractions across the UK”.

Customers can open the app, select Merlin, book tickets via the partnership website, and then choose how many Nectar points they want to use at checkout.

Sainsbury’s chief technology, marketing and data officer Mark Given said: “We know our Nectar members want great value and real rewards. That’s why our partnership with Merlin matters. It’s all about giving families fun days out for less and making every point count towards something special.”

Nectar360’s managing director Amir Rasekh added: “Making it easy for customers to spend their points is really important. By stripping out unnecessary steps, we’ve created a faster, more intuitive redemption experience in partnership with Merlin – one that’s much better for our Nectar members.”
