The CEO of Sainsbury’s says grocery inflation in the UK has not reached the levels he feared earlier in the year and calls on Andy Burnham to support food retailers.

Speaking to reporters today after the retailer posted its results for the first quarter of the financial year, Sainsbury’s chief executive Simon Roberts said food inflation has not been as bad as many feared but added that “pressure in the system” remains.
