Price rises and food shortages ‘inevitable’, warn industry bosses

Food manufacturing bosses have warned of the threat of food shortages and “inevitable” price rises due to the impact of drought and heatwaves across the UK.

Speaking to the BBC, FDF Scotland CEO and UK director of strategy David Thomas said there were “significant concerns” over the availability of fruit and vegetable products and warned it was a matter of when, not if, shoppers began to experience a spike in food inflation.
