The partnership will bring Co-op’s offering to eight Roadchef stores across the UK

The new partnership will bring Co-op’s offering to eight stores across the Roadchef network, previously operated by Spar, as well as a rollout of an extensive range of the c-store specialist’s own-brand products across motorway services in the UK.

The first new stores will open from June to September of this year, with further opportunities being explored by both Co-op Wholesale and Roadchef.

The c-store specialist said the new partnership is a “key milestone” for the business in enhancing customer experience and offering shoppers greater choice, convenience and quality.

Co-op Wholesale managing director Katie Secretan said: “We’re looking forward to bringing a fresh approach to these stores, catering to the needs of all these customers and making sure they can access an award-winning own brand range, while on the move.

“The beauty of our flexible wholesale model means we’re able to work cross-functionally with the teams at Roadchef to select the right fascia and proposition for their locations, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together.”

Roadchef retail, procurement and supply chain director Kevin Whitehouse added: “The complete offer from Co-op Wholesale resonates with what we’re trying to achieve at Roadchef, and we chose to partner with them due to the strength of their own brand range and distribution network. Our customers are looking for great quality products on the go, and this is exactly what we’ll be able to offer through Co-op Wholesale.”

The tie-up comes less than a month after Co-op rebranded its wholesale arm from Nisa. At the time, the c-store specialist said the move was aimed at driving increased value for independent retailers, while also fuelling its expansionist ambitions into broader markets.
