The Co-op has extended its membership scheme to allow shoppers to redeem and earn rewards through its online electricals business.

Co-op members currently earn 5% back on their purchases when they buy own-label products from its food stores or purchase services from its legal and funeral divisions.

The move to extend the membership scheme will allow loyalty card holders to pay for electrical items, delivery services or warranties, either in part or in full, using their accumulated rewards.

Co-op members will also earn 5% back for themselves and 1% for community projects when they buy selected brands from the mutual’s online electricals business.

Products eligible for the rewards will change “on a calendar basis”, the Co-op said, and will be flagged with a member card icon to customers.

Co-op Electrical managing director James Holland said: “No other retailer offers a reward this generous and it’s a huge financial benefit for our members.

They can choose to spend the rewards earned next time they shop with Co-op Electrical online or when they buy from Co-op Food, Legal Services or Funeralcare.”
