A former HMV staffer in Londonderry, who worked for the entertainment retailer before its administration, irked the brand’s owners by opening a shop called HVM.

He then changed it to WAH by turning the letters upside down.

It’s not the first time an indie has annoyed a big retailer by adopting a similar name. There’s been Singhsbury’s for instance, and Sellfridges.

And of course there are those stores in foreign climes that seek to attract British holidaymakers by pirating famous UK high street names.
