Retail Week looks ahead to the next seven days, with updates from Kingfisher, Shop Direct and French Connection in the diary.

Kingfisher

The DIY specialist will report its interim results on Wednesday, September 19.

Investors will be hoping that Kingfisher boss Véronique Laury will be revealing better news than at the business’s full years in March. At that time, Kingfisher’s full-year profits declined, dragged down by business disruption and a “softening market” in which B&Q sales fell.

The business should be benefiting from the woes at its rival Homebase, but this boost does not appear to have materialised yet.

Shop Direct

The online retailer will post its full-year results on Wednesday.

It will be Shop Direct’s first set of full-year figures under new boss Henry Birch and the market will be keen to hear his take on the faltering business, which has had a continual trickle of redundancies from head office over the past year following its failed sale process.

French Connection

The beleaguered fashion retailer will report its interim results on Thursday, September 20.

French Connection made progress at its full years with founder, chief executive and chairman Stephen Marks asserting that the group was “very close” to achieving long-term profitability.

The fashion retailer and wholesaler posted a pre-tax loss of £2.3m, down from £5.3m the previous year.
