Fenwick has notched up pre-tax profits of £41.7 million in the year to January 25, up from 35.9 million the year before.

The family-owned department store group reported net sales, which include concession partners’ sales, grew to£350.3 million, up from£340.8 million the year before.

Turnover was£283.2 million.

In accounts filed at Companies House, Fenwick said: "The directors believe that the external commercial environment will continue to be competitive but remain confident that in the future the group will maintain the current level of performance."

Fenwick bought department store William & Griffin in Colchester in March this year.
