Administrator Teneo has announced the closure of 15 Ted Baker stores across the UK, resulting in 245 job losses at the fashion retailer.
Teneo said 11 Ted Baker stores across the UK are set to close and cease trading by April 19, resulting in 120 job losses, as well as an additional 25 head office roles as a result of “a necessary reduction in central costs”.
Teneo said all closing stores are making a loss and are “deemed to have no prospect of being able to return to profitability even with material rent reductions”.
The Ted Baker stores set to close are: Birmingham Bullring, Bristol, Bromley, Cambridge, Exeter, Leeds, Liverpool One, London Bridge, Milton Keynes, Nottingham and Oxford.
Teneo also revealed that upon its appointment as administrator, landlords had served notice on four Ted Baker stores: Brompton Road and Floral Street in London, Manchester Trafford Centre and Bicester Village, resulting in a further 100 redundancies.

“These store closures, whilst with a regrettable impact on valued team members, will improve the performance of the business, as [owner] Authentic continues to progress discussions with potential UK and European operating partners for the Ted Baker brand to bring the business back to health.
“We would like to thank Ted Baker team members and partners for their ongoing efforts and support at this difficult time.”
Authentic, which owns Ted Baker’s intellectual property, is said to be “in the process” of finding a new operating partner for the fashion retailer’s retail and ecommerce business in the UK and Europe.
This comes after No Ordinary Designer Label (NODL), which trades under the Ted Baker brand, filed a notice of intention to appoint advisers at Teneo last month.
