SuperGroup has inked a deal with retail distributor and operator FJ Benjamin to expand its presence in Asia into Malaysia and Singapore.

SuperGroup’s 10-year deal with FJ Benjamin, which has worked with Gap and Banana Republic in the Far East, will kickstart expansion in Southeast Asia, The Telegraph reported.

The operator will help SuperGroup open open three Superdry stores in Kuala Lumpur by early next year including the first one in the capital’s Pavilion retail centre in November.

Under the stewardship of international boss Hans Schmitt, who last month joined from Hugo boss where he was managing director, SuperGroup is enacting a strategy to build on its Far East presence in Hong Kong with a raft of foreign language sites.

SuperGroup chief executive Julian Dunkerton said: “We have a clear strategy to partner, outside Europe, with leading distributors in territories around the world to further internationalise and globalise the Superdry brand.

“This follows new partnerships with Demsa in Turkey and Reliance Brands in India. We are excited to expand further in the southeast Asian markets with FJ Benjamin, a company with an impeccable track record in building brands in Asia.”
