River Island has opened a new fascia, named River Island Boutique, in Portsmouth.

The fashion retailer’s new concept store offers an “elevated experience” compared with its traditional format, with elements specially curated for the Portsmouth market.

It replaces a former River Island store but has doubled in size to be spread across two floors, measuring 7,602 sq ft.

Womenswear is offered across the whole ground floor, while the second floor is home to menswear, kidswear and babywear. There are also dedicated boutique sections for denim, bags and shoes.

The store features a modern look, including new changing rooms with interactive screens.

River Island is expected to make 30 hires within the local community to operate the new store.

River Island property director Frances Baker said: “River Island is thrilled to be reopening in Portsmouth with our first Boutique store.

“Positioned in a prime pitch with a loyal and vibrant consumer base, it’s the ideal location to introduce the first concept store.

“The team are eager to welcome back devoted shoppers and are excited to acquire new customers through the addition of kidswear.”
