Primark is to double the size of its Westfield Stratford City store as part of its pledge to invest in new shops across the UK.

The value fashion retailer’s east London store will go from 45,100 sq ft to 81,000 sq ft and span four floors rather than two.

The expansion is anticipated to be completed in early 2024 and will create 250 new jobs.

Primark said doubling the store’s footprint would “offer even more choice across its extensive fashion, beauty, lifestyle and home ranges”.

The announcement follows Primark’s pledge in November to invest £140m into new shops across the UK during the next two years and create 850 new jobs.

Primark UK retail director Kari Rodgers said: “After setting out an ambitious investment plan a few months ago, it’s exciting that we can now reveal another one of the stores set to benefit.

“We’re looking forward to extending our offering at Westfield and giving shoppers in Stratford even more of the great style and incredible value they love the most.”
