Retail Week presents a round-up of what to look out for next week, including French Connection’s half-year figures and The Toy Store’s first UK opening

French Connection

The fashion retailer and brand will report half-year results on Monday. It has already warned investors that its retail sales are likely to come in lower than expected due to “challenging conditions”.

House of Fraser

The deaprtment store group reports its second quarter numbers on Tuesday. The retailer revealed in July that it is embarking on a new strategy to puts its ‘customer insight’ team at the centre of the business. Card Factory

The greetings card specialist reports interim results on Tuesday. It has already revealed an 8% uplift in sales over its first half as it opened its 800th branch. Card Factory relaunched its transactional website during the period. The retailer will also unveil details of a return of surplus capital to shareholders.

The Toy Store

The Middle Eastern-based retailer launches its first toy store in the UK on Thursday. The 27,000 sq ft property at the West One shopping centre on Oxford Street will put the flagship store in direct competition with nearby Hamleys.

Grand Central

Birmingham’s new £150m retail destination will open its doors on Thursday. The 500,000 sq ft centre, which has been integrated into the city’s New Street train station, is the first of four large retail developments that will open in the UK before the end of 2015, alongside Friars Walk in Newport, Flemingate in Beverley and Westfield Bradford Broadway.
