Reiss reported that the dress Kate Middleton wore to meet Barack and Michelle Obama has sold out after customers rushed to its shops and crashed its website.

The new Duchess of Cambridge wore a £175 camel-coloured Shola dress to meet the US President and his wife on Tuesday.

Minutes after she appeared on TV on Tuesday, the website crashed as shoppers tried to secure the dress, and the retailer told The Sun it had also sold out in stores.

Reiss director Andy Rogers said: “What’s cool about Kate is she isn’t thinking of what designers she can call on. She wears items from her own wardrobe.”

The Duchess has proved she’s a fan of high street retailers, selecting Reiss and Whistles for her official engagement photos, and Zara and LK Bennett the day after her wedding.
