George at Asda opened its first store on Guernsey on Tuesday to throngs of shoppers keen to visit the value fashion retailer.
It is Asda’s second standalone George store in the Channel Islands with franchise partner SandpiperCI. The grocer opened a 6,000 sq ft shop in Jersey in June. Asda will hope the new stores will be more successful than those it opened itself previously – the retailer closed all 11 of its George stores in 2008.
