Burgess will be responsible for leading the strategy for international and business-to-business for Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy and Athleta.

She joins from M&S, where she spent almost two years leading the strategy and transformation portfolio for the international business.

Prior to that, Burgess spent more than a decade at EY in its supply chain and consumer industries businesses, as well as nine years at B&Q.

Burgess joins Gap at a time when it is expanding its standalone retail portfolio in the UK. The company opened a 3,250 sq ft flagship store in London’s Covent Garden in November.

The space features shoppable destinations that spotlight the brand’s core denim, khakis, fleece, logo and shirting lines, alongside seasonal collections and limited-edition collaborations.
