Frasers Group has snapped up a majority stake in US luxury multi-brand retailer The Webster as the retail giant ramps up its international expansion.

It forms part of a strategic partnership between the two retailers, which will enable the Flannels owner to grow its luxury business and increase its presence stateside.

The Webster has 13 stores across the US in cities including New York, Miami, Los Angeles and Montecito.

Founder Laure Hériard Dubreuil will retain a minority stake in the business and continue to manage the company.

Frasers Group chief executive Michael Murray said the acquisition represented a “new chapter for both brands, driven by collaboration, creativity and cultural relevance”.

“This partnership is founded on a shared belief in elevating retail through experience, creativity and culture. We are excited about what lies ahead with Laure and her team at The Webster,” he added.

Frasers has spent the past couple of years expanding its international reach through new partnerships with franchise partners and acquisitions. Its Sports Direct brand signed a deal with sports and fashion distributor MAP Active earlier this year to launch the brand in five new markets across Southeast Asia and India.
