Frasers Group names former audit watchdog head as new chair

The retailer announced on Friday that Sir Jon Thompson will succeed David Daly, who steps down after eight years in the role.

Thompson joined the Frasers board as a non-executive director in June, and takes on his new role from September 1. Daly will step away from the board at Frasers’ annual general meeting due to be held on September 24.

Frasers also announced it would appoint Andy Lion to the board. Lyon is a former partner at accountancy firm PwC, who acted as an audit partner for Next and its credit business.

The retailer said it also had another “well-advanced candidate” for a further non-executive director position, replacing current board members Ger Wright and Helen Wright, who are both not seeking re-election at the AGM.

Frasers chief executive Michael Murray said: “Jon’s deep experience in corporate governance and strategic leadership will be invaluable as we continue to grow as a leading global retail business.”
