Customers will be able to complete purchases seamlessly through Facebook and Instagram

The feature is currently being piloted in the United States and allows shoppers to complete their purchases from Karen Millen, Boohoo, BoohooMan, and PrettyLittleThing seamlessly in the apps.

Debenhams Group said the partnership allows its youth brands, which have 46 million combined social media followers, to meet its customers where they already discover fashion.

The collaboration – enabled by PayPal’s Agentic Commerce Services – is part of the retail giant’s wider AI and technology strategy to deliver more customer-centric, next-generation shopping experiences.

Debenhams unveiled its partnership with PayPal in February to launch an AI-driven shopping experience within the app, which allows customers to discover and check out within the PayPal platform.

Group chief executive Dan Finley said: “More and more customers are discovering fashion through social, so bringing together inspiration and purchase in one connected experience is a natural next step for us.

“Becoming the first UK retailer to partner with Meta in this way – enabling our brands to offer AI-driven checkout to US customers, reflects how we’re rethinking the shopping journey for a social-first world – using technology and partnerships to create faster, more intuitive experiences that better match how our customers want to shop.

“This is another important step in how we’re scaling that approach across the Group and driving the next phase of our growth.”
