Boohoo has taken event space and showrooms in London’s West End, marking the formerly pureplay retailer’s first foray into bricks and mortar.

The fast-fashion retailer has let a former Maplin unit on Great Portland Street, which will feature event space, showrooms and offices.

Boohoo has let the space through landlords Langham Estate, which said it is “planning a high-spec finish, which will change with the seasonality of their campaign and brands”.

The 5,300 sq ft showroom is Boohoo’s first move into property and comes as the retailer goes from strength to strength.

In June, it posted a 39% surge in sales for the group to £254m in the three months to May 31.

The fast-fashion retailer posted strong revenue growth across all its geographies, with the UK up 27% and its international markets up 56%.

The group’s other brands PrettyLittleThing and Nasty Gal also saw sales increase by 42% and 153% respectively.

At the time, Boohoo chief executive John Lyttle said: “The group has made a strong start to the year as we continue to disrupt and capture market share in the UK and internationally across all our brands.

“We have ambitious plans for the group and continue to invest to ensure that our scalable multi-brand platform is well-positioned to disrupt, gain market share and capitalise on the global opportunity in front of us.”
