Pizza chain grows UK portfolio by almost 20 per cent
Domino's Pizza cemented its position as market leader in the UK and Ireland with 53 store openings last year, taking its portfolio to 337 outlets. The most recent openings include locations from Ballymena to Bridgwater and from Kirkcaldy to Canvey Island.

Meanwhile, Domino's head of property John Cox unveiled an ambitious requirements list for the year ahead, with a target of 50 more stores this year. Domino's expansion rate could see it add a third of a million sq ft (30,965 sq m) of retail space over the next five years.

'Our property acquisitions programme is paying dividends,' Cox said. 'Our next big challenge is to face changing regulations associated with planning, and, having established our reputation as responsible property operators, this will enable us to maintain momentum with our site acquisition in the future.'

Domino's operates a network of 7,530 franchised and company-owned stores in the US and more than 50 other countries. In the UK, the standard requirement is for units of about 1,200 sq ft (110 sq m), with at least 18 ft (5.5 m) of frontage in a high visibility location, as well as parking spaces.
