The retail weather forecast from Saturday July 20 to Friday July 26, 2019

The week last year

Warming again although mid-week felt more seasonable. Late week saw heavy, thundery rain.

The week this year

Rainy across the country to start the weekend but then the majority of showers will fall on the North.

Temperatures will begin to rise against normal but still fall short of last year’s heat. Ironically, the highest deviation from seasonal norms will be in the Southeast, which also will have the greatest shortfall versus last year.

Mindset

Comparables will continue to lag, but seasonable warmth will promote demand of summer lines. Early rain will disrupt footfall, but later sunny skies will push gardening and DIY categories.
