The retail weather forecast from Saturday August 3 to Friday August 9, 2019

The week last year

Hot across the South to start but northern cooling pushed in by mid-week along with showers.

The week this year

Temperatures will be close to normal and near or slightly below last year from the weekend into the beginning of the working week. Look for heat to build again for the second half of the week, pushing most areas above last year and normal, but the weekly average will end up below last year for the East.

A few showers will cross the North during the middle of the week. Light showers will fall in the Southwest at the start of the period, with heavier rain expected for the same area late. Remaining areas will be mostly dry.

Mindset

Weather-driven demand for summer categories will rise in the second half of the week as temperatures climb again. Ice-cream, cold drinks and suncare will show strongest comparables.
