Carrefour has been hit by further angry protests in China, as anti-French sentiment grows in the country.

The world’s second biggest retailer has been hit by protests since the Olympic torch relay was disrupted in Paris by pro-Tibet demonstrators.

In the latest protests, hundreds of demonstrators stood outside several of Carrefour’s supermarkets handing out leaflets and waving Chinese flags in support of the Beijing Olympics and against Tibetan independence.

According to Reuters, 400 protestors gathered outside a store in the southeastern city of Fuzhou, with 40 police present to maintain order. In Changsha, in the south of China, 200 demonstrators were urging people not to shop in the store.
