Asda has launched a mouth-watering offer for shoppers, with packs of eight sausages for the bargain price of 2p each.
The Smart Price sausages, priced at 16p a pack, have been slashed in price in an effort to help cash-strapped families create a meal for less than£1.60. Smart Price potatoes are 73p for a 2.5 kilo bag and a 1.5 kilo bag of carrots is 68p.
That means a meal of bangers and mash with carrots would cost a family of four£1.57.
Asda sausage buyer Jenny Liggat said: “Families are feeling the impact of the credit crunch in their pockets. Our Smart Price ranges are very popular with customers and we thought that the idea of a 2p sausage would be very welcome news in the aisles.”
