Amazon has unveiled details of some of its biggest Prime Day deals as the start time of the promotional spectacular nears.

Amazon is slashing prices on products ranging from entertainment and technology to fashion and tools.

The online Goliath also aims to drive uptake of its Echo voice-activated device as it seeks to revolutionise the ways in which people shop.

Amazon has pledged its “lowest ever” price on the Echo, which will be sold for £79.99 during Prime Day, which starts at 6pm tonight.

Other deals include up to 30% off Intel-powered laptops; up to 40% off Bosch power tools; up to 30% off beauty products from brands such as Olay and L’Oreal; and up to 40% off fashion brands, including Calvin Klein, Gant and Tommy Hilfiger.

Amazon Prime vice-president Greg Greeley said: “Our teams have been working for months to source exciting and interesting deals, and our fulfilment centers are loaded with products, our operations associates are ready and our transportation partners around the world are waiting for the first Prime Day order.

“Prime members will find hundreds of thousands of deals on everything they’re into, from beauty fans to bookworms and gamers to gardeners.”

This is Amazon’s third Prime Day. The Prime subscription scheme entitles users to services such as same-day delivery as well as access to video and music streaming services

Prime members are understood to spend more with Amazon than other shoppers, and research by ICM for Retail Week found that there are 19m Prime members in the UK.
