Ross promoted to role
Dutch grocery giant Ahold has promoted Kimberley Ross to the role ofdeputy chief financial officer, with effect from July 1.

Ross, who has been with the retailer since 2001, will be responsible for Ahold's tax, treasury, accounting and reporting functions. She will report to John Rishton, who assumes his responsibilities as acting president and chief executive, in addition to his role as chief financial officer, on the same date.

Last month, Ahold announced that first-quarter sales were flat at Eu13.2 billion (£8.89 billion), but the performance still exceeded analysts' expectations. Weak sales at its US businesses dragged down a stellar performance from its stores in The Netherlands and Eastern Europe.
