Sainsbury’s is offering shoppers “a whole new way to show your love this Valentine’s Day” with the launch of a heart-shaped cucumber.

The cucumbers, which go on sale today priced at £1 per half portion, are perfectly shaped once sliced.

Sainsbury’s recommends surprising your loved one with an at-home spa treatment complete with heart-shaped cucumber relaxing eye patches.

Sainsbury’s has only harvested a limited number of the cucumbers, but said that other seasonal shapes are planned for later this year.

Sainsbury’s Elaine Young said: “Valentine’s Day carries such an element of surprise we hope this year’s fun love cucumber will get hearts racing, whether it’s in a romantic packed lunch or a lovingly prepared salad.”
