Fashion e-tailer Asos is to focus on British-designed products for its next season, after the group reported this week that sales had more than doubled in the year to March 31.

Asos will launch a limited edition range of handbags, called Made in Great Britain for Asos, this summer. It has also partnered with several British designers including Liberty and Thomas Pink to make products in a Best of British range.

Asos chief executive Nick Robertson said: “We are celebrating that we are a UK company. We have had fun with it but it has a serious message.”

He predicts that the theme will appeal to its fast-growing international customer base. Overseas sales soared 173 per cent year on year in the four weeks to April 24.
