Black Friday sales ‘go gangbusters’ as shoppers splurge on deals

Brits smashed transaction records on Black Friday as cash-strapped consumers splurged on deals despite the cost-of-living crisis. 

Consumer spending data from Barclaycard found transaction volumes rose 0.7% up until 1pm today, compared to the same time period on Black Friday 2021. Transactions were up 4.9% on Black Friday 2019.
