Kingfisher group chief executive Ian Cheshire has called for reform of employment tribunals rules, which could help kick-start the UK jobs market.

Speaking at the National Retail Federation convention in New York on Monday, Cheshire said private sector investment and employment growth would be key to the recovery. He said reform of employment tribunal rules, making it easier to get rid of unsuitable staff, would make employing people more attractive.

The Government has said Vince Cable’s business department is undertaking a review of employment regulations to ensure they are “fair to employees but also that we minimise the burdens on employers”.
