Legacy retailer spearheads retail response to disaster
Marks & Spencer has pledged£250,000 to its appeal to help tsunami victims in Southeast Asia. In addition, the retailer's chairman and executive directors promised to donate more than£50,000.

The retailer's gift marked the start of a campaign at stores across the UK on New Year's Eve. Customers and staff are invited to give money by any method of payment at any M&S outlet in the country. The retailer has also sent£3,000 of clothing to Heathrow and Gatwick airports for returning British tourists who have lost their possessions.
