Meal deals have been affected by stock availability issues related to the cyber attack

The retailer has told customers it cannot fulfill certain promotional offers due to stock availability problems resulting from the hack.

Signs posted in stores, including one at Victoria Station, said: “Due to availability issues, we are temporarily unable to fulfil this meal deal. Please bear with us while we work through this.”

The retailer offers various meal deals, including lunchtime combinations of sandwiches or salads with crisps and drinks at smaller outlets in transportation hubs and petrol stations. Its offers also include dine-in meal deals with various combinations of starters, main courses and desserts priced between £6 and £15.

The disruption from the cyber attack has now entered its third week. The hack is reportedly linked to a group of teenage hackers and is believed to be ransomware, where computer systems are frozen until a ransom is paid. Internal sources fear the disruption could continue for weeks, potentially costing the company tens of millions in lost orders, according to reports.

The attack has already significantly impacted M&S operations, with the meal deal suspensions being the latest in a series of disruptions.
