US ecommerce giant Amazon is planning to enter Brazil during the second half of 2011.

The online retailer has reportedly begun negotiations with major book publishers and plans to start operations focused exclusively on the sale of digital ebooks and its Kindle ebook reader.

Kindle director of content Pedro Huerto reportedly told the local press that Amazon will set up an office in Brazil. The company plans to begin selling ebooks in Portuguese and to sell the Kindle through bricks-and-mortar retail channels, such as electronics and telecommunications stores.
