Boots topped the health and beauty retailer ranking as its marketing prowess helped it surpass its rivals.

The retailer’s loyalty scheme, which can be easily accessed via app or mobile web, is one of its most valuable marketing tools and Boots has plans to use the data it collects to better predict what products a shopper wants and needs.

Retail Week Indicator evaluates digital capabilities across four performance categories: marketing; logistics and customer service; cross-channel; and ecommerce.

All retailers were scored against each performance category as well as their financial performance. The category scores were aggregated to create an overall score per retailer.
