Quirky fashion retailer on the upside of fashion melange
Ted Baker surpassed market expectations with a strong yearly report. In the 52 weeks to January 29 group turnover increased by 19 per cent to£105.8 million, up from£88.8 million the previous year.

The results come against a background of mixed results from fashion retailers. French Connection turned in results below market expectations, even after a profit warning just before Christmas, while H&M made consistent month-on-month sales gains. Ted Baker's profit before tax for the year was up an enviable 20.5 per cent, to£16.8 million.

Chief executive Ray Kelvin said: 'The brand performed well in the UK and overseas as we continued to focus on our key strengths of design product quality and attention to detail. The current year has started well with both retail and wholesale and licensing.'
