Quiz was established in 1993 in Glasgow by founder and chief executive Tarak Ramzan, originally selling women’s clothing through a handful of stores but subsequently becoming a fast fashion omnichannel retailer with a substantial international presence.
But in an increasingly difficult fashion market, increased investment in infrastructure and rising costs associated with obtaining and servicing online customers has seriously impacted the business since 2018. With the Covid-19 pandemic adding to the pressures on Quiz, a full review of the business strategy took place in 2020, culminating in the appointment of administrators to its property arm during the year. This has enabled Quiz to cut the size of its retail network and secure more flexible leases.
Accelerating online growth is now the number one priority at Quiz with a focus on its own sites but ongoing development through carefully selected third parties.
