Fat Face is a multichannel lifestyle retailer offering its own brand of good quality, casual clothing, footwear and accessories.

It is headed up by former CFO Will Crumbie from late 2021 after former boss Liz Evans stepped down.

The business had been owned by private-equity firm Bridgepoint since 2007, but ownership passed to its lenders in the second half of 2020 as part of a capital restructuring designed to bring down debt. This put the retailer into a stronger position as it navigated the impact of lockdowns on its store business during the year.

Fat Face turned over £164.7m in the year to end May 2021 from a chain of 198 stores in the UK and Ireland plus its online site. There is also a growing US business that now comprises around 20 owned stores and a dedicated website. Both the UK and US sites were replatformed in 2018.

The retailer has also been investing in its distribution infrastructure. Its new 80,000 sq ft distribution centre became fully operational towards the end of 2017.
