Based in Newcastle, End Clothing is a rapidly growing contemporary fashion retailer targeting “the new wave of fashion-conscious consumers” who mix ”innovative and directional” clothing. Initially established as a menswear business, the retailer has also moved into womenswear from 2021. 

End stocks a range of more than 500 brands across luxury fashion, emerging designers and exclusive sport and streetwear. Premium sneakers form a key part of its offer.

The retailer continues to invest in innovation and develop key technologies to provide a truly omnichannel shopping experience to a developing generation of digital-first shoppers.

End trades globally online and through its iOS and Android apps, while the ecommerce offer is supported by three strategically located flagship stores in London, Glasgow and its native Newcastle.

Its innovative Launches platform provides access to limited edition, high-demand releases. The retailer says this platform “levels the playing field for the consumer with an automated raffle system designed to deliver a best-in-class customer experience”.

End bucked the trend in the year to March 2021 (FY2020), with sales up 16.8% at £199.2m and pre-tax profit margin strengthening by more than four full points to an elevated 22.8%. 

In April 2021 founders Christiaan Ashworth and John Parker offloaded a controlling stake in the business to global investment firm The Carlyle Group in a deal which valued the business at more than £750m. Index Ventures, which held a minority stake, sold its holding as part of this process.

Ashworth and Parker have retained a “significant” minority shareholding and remain in position as joint chief executives. They said the investment from Carlyle would help End to reach its “increasingly international audience”, as well as facilitating the move into womenswear.
