In the six months since Retail Week launched Be Inspired, the response has been remarkable.
Thousands have read, watched and tweeted about our content, hundreds have attended our Be Inspired events and mentoring sessions and it’s received an award from the Government’s Women’s Business Council.
Word has spread fast, as has industry support.
There are now 46 ambassadors backing what we are trying to achieve, and crucially, that list now includes the men leading some of the UK’s biggest retailers.
Be Inspired is about fuelling women’s ambitions and enabling them to fulfil their career potential.
It’s not a gender specific campaign based just on women talking to women.
We wanted the men to come forward and pledge their support and talk about how best to affect a culture change towards greater diversity throughout the sector.
We wanted to ask some of the highest profile men who whole-heartedly back Be Inspired for their view on the barriers women face and how more can be done to address the balance in the boardroom.
