Board urges shareholders to support Williams
Wyevale Garden Centres has named the date for an extraordinary general meeting, where shareholders will decide whether to keep chairman David Williams (pictured) and other key directors.

The meeting, on September 12, has been prompted by a call from major shareholder Laxey Partners for Williams to be replaced by former property developer Robert Ware. Laxey also wants directors Andrew Lewis-Pratt and Dianne Thompson to be removed.

In a letter to shareholders urging them to vote against the resolutions outlined by Laxey, Wyevale senior non-executive director Justin Lawley said: 'Your board unanimously recommends shareholders to vote against these resolutions as it does not believe they are in the best interests of the company and the shareholders taken as a whole.'
