Woolworths is to consider taking its womenswear offer in-house and ending its relationship with clothing retailer Peacocks.
The variety store group launched its first own-label menswear range, etcetera, last week at the Aberdeen Big W outlet. It is being rolled out to the other 19 stores.
A spokeswoman said Woolworths will see how the menswear range performs before making a decision whether to go down the same route for womenswear.
She said: 'Womenswear might be the next step to improve margins (by taking it in-house).'
The etcetera range could also be introduced in Woolworths' larger traditional stores. Products include khaki trousers, Parka-style coats, T-shirts and smarter wear, such as shirts and jumpers.
Woolworths clothing, commercial and home director Cath Norgate-Hart said: 'The price points and quality are unbelievable, and I think Woolworths' Big W customers will be wowed.'
