Wickes has opened a convenience store on a high street in Tumbridge Wells.

It is a first for the DIY retailer, which until now has opened large sheds on retail parks.

Wickes has opened the 700 sq ft smaller format to tap into its growing multichannel offer. Wickes told the Mail on Sunday that the store provides customers with the opportunity to order from the store and if an item is not in stock, get it delivered the next day.

Wickes is eyeing further locations for the smaller format.

Multi channel development director Simon Holder said: “This will be well positioned for people who want to pick up things in their lunch hour or on their way home from work.”
