Wal-Mart eyes Asda price plan

Wal-Mart chief executive Lee Scott is considering importing Asda's good, better, best pricing approach to the retailer's US Supercenters.

Speaking at the Goldman Sachs conference in New York, Scott said Supercentre product vice-president DeDe Priest is in the UK to explore the possibility. 'Asda has an opening price point and a select brand, which makes sense. This may be an opportunity for Supercenters,' said Scott.

He added Wal-Mart needs to improve its image with 'middle and higher-waged' customers.
