The Trafford Centre in Manchester is the latest in long line of shopping centres to release an app to provide information to visitors, but this one is the first to try something a little bit different.

The A-List app costs £1.19 to download and was developed primarily as a fashion tool for female shoppers, with trends and shopping tips being its main focus. The point of difference is the added extras the customer is entitled to once they have the app.

Once customers are signed up they are alerted to special offers from selected retailers and free treats around the centre. These include VIP personal shopping and wine from retailers including John Lewis, Wallis and Debenhams. The app also allows priority entrance to fashion shows and events. Retailers can be highlighted on the app free of charge but they must provide exclusive offers. These are vetted to ensure a high standard across the app.

The app was downloaded 1,000 times in the first week. It also features an interactive map and regular content from stores.
